Open Mind Counselling
I began my journey as a Counsellor at Brockenhurst College, Hampshire in 2007 where I studied my level 1,2,and 3 counselling certificates. After which I joined E.D.A.S. (Essential Drug and Alcohol Services) in both their Bournemouth and Poole offices. Whilst there I completed their level 2 in Addictions certificate. At E.D.A.S I counselled people who were dealing with addiction issues and the carers of people with addiction issues.
As a member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists or B.A.C.P I have had to take a proficiency exam and be registered: my registration number is 093939.
I hold a Certificate in Clinical Supervision, a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, Diploma in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and a Foundation Degree in counselling.
I have treated people who have addiction issues and dual diagnosis and issues including: Depression, Anxiety, Borderline Personality Disorder, Grief, OCD, Loss, Stress, Self Harm, Anorexia, Domestic Violence, Rape, Sexual abuse and those who are going through Transgender/Gender Identity(not exhaustive).
During my counselling career, I have counselled at the B.C.H.A (Bournemouth Churches Housing Association) in Boscombe, E.D.A.S in their both Bournemouth and Poole offices and I have worked for Together a national mental Health Charity.
Currently I run a private practice in Winton, Bournemouth, where I offer one to one counselling.
In September 2015 I joined the YMCA Bournemouth as their counselling coordinator. Collectively, we have developed the current counselling service which is available to all clients and staff members.
I also offer clinical supervision to private counselling practitioners, organisations and other professionals working with people.
I have a current D.B.S (Disclosure and Barring Service) certificate and am fully insured. All certificates are available to view on request.
I have regular monthly supervision; where I see a specially trained counsellor, to support me in my practice both ethically and clinically. I also receive supervision for my supervisory practice at hour and half a month.
Continuing professional development is also an important part of ensuring that I keep up to date and learn new skills. I have attended various CPD including, working with sexual issues workshop, working with eating disorders and working with children and young people. I have also attended a level three children safeguarding course.
I am currently studying for a Relate Certificate in Family Therapy.
